Rogue leveling specs:
Thanks for stopping by Rogue Leveling Spec! I’ve done some research and found the best spec for leveling in cataclysm. At least this is the one that works the best for me. You can find this build and many other great builds for pvp and raids in the guide I use. There is more info on this at the end of this posting. With out further delay, here you go.
I recommend using this build for your rogue leveling spec. I have listed the main combat build you may want to look at starting with as it does a lot of sustained damage and is very good for PVE and for groups of monsters. To use this build just pick these talents in the order they are written:

Basically the majority of this builds talent points are in the combat tree and it is meant to bring down mobs quickly, this is a well rounded combat leveling build and has very high player rating for leveling.
Leveling Build info. and alternatives
Use a slower more powerful weapon in your main hand for this rogue leveling spec. (this is true for other spec as well) You are better off with the speedy weapon in your off hand.
The use of daggers were mainly associated with PVP builds in the past. With the the changes that Blizzard has made to mutilate, it’s use has also become a very popular and viable option for any rogue. Daggers use to only really be used for PVP, however changes have been made and dagger users can do PVE and PVP now without sacrificing damage output. A mutilate leveling build is the only other build I would use for a rogue leveling spec.
What you should know to play your rogue effectively.
Learning how to play a rogue character can be easier than it is to master most classes as we do not use as many skills compared to some other classes.
The main things you should know as a rogue is:
- What rogue build to use.
- What gear you should wear
- What skills should you use to do the most damage.
- What rotations you should use to do the most damage.
- What poisons to use in certain situations.
1. What Build Should You Use - Combat was the best for PVE in raids, but now subtlety or assassination have really come on strong and are a better option than they used to be. Combat is best for leveling or solo leveling.
2. Rogue Gear – Rogue gear is important when it comes to how much damage you can do. There is a big difference on the gear you want for PVP or for PVE. The stat buffs you want on your gear varies depending on the type of build.
3. Combat Rotations – Your combat rotations are important and will differ depending on your talents. You can usually figure out through trial and error what works best for your build. If not there are many places to go to find out what works best for each situation.
4. Skills – Rupture is the best finishing move that can be unleashed on most bosses or mobs that aren’t as easy to kill quickly. The key is to not over-use your rupture ability, only reapply rupture at 5 points if it is about to fall off of your target. Obviously if the boss or mob is immune to rupture, don’t use it. Rotations on bosses should always use rupture unless they are immune to this ability.
On mobs or bosses where you have to interrupt spells or abilities be prepared to kick/kidney shot/gouge and stop them in their tracks.
Use your cool downs when they are up but try to use them when they will be most beneficial. Using a cool down when it is up for no good reason is a waste of a cool down. Most of your cool downs do not take long to come back so do not be afraid to use them when they will help you out.
5. Poisons – In PVE usually Deadly poison should always be on the off hand weapon. In most combat situations you should try to shiv with the offhand to keep the poison to stack 5 times and then shiv as needed to keep the poisons effect from falling off. Their are many situations that call for other poison especially in PVP. Mind-numbing and crippling can be quite useful.

Hi there!
Kevin here, thanks for stopping by my site on rogue leveling. I live in the northern US and have been playing WOW for about 3+ years now. I have played many different classes in that time and have tried many different guides and specs for those classes. My rogue was actually my very first character I built and still one of my most favorite characters to play (especially PVP). I hope you find the information here useful in your efforts to level up your rogue. If you wish to email me, click on the contact me tab.
Sneaky and speedy leveling to you, fellow rogues!!!
